How do I program a sharp cash register?
Programming
To begin programming the cash register, locate the "Mode" switch in the middle right corner of the machine, below the display screen. The "Mode" switch has five settings for different functions on the cash register labeled "Void" (which cancels transactions), "Off" (which turns off the display), "Reg" (which permits transaction entries), "X/Flash" (which permits printing of sales reports) and "Z/Pgm" (the setting you'll need here, which permits resetting of sales data and programming). You can access any of the five settings with one of two mode keys that come with the cash register. However, you can only enter and withdraw the key in the regular or off position.
Once in the "Z/Pgm" setting, you can start programming keys on the cash register to represent different departments in your business. Then you can assign preset prices to different department keys for frequently purchased items to speed up cash register transactions. You can also assign price look-up codes to each department for checking prices. Price look-up codes 1 through 10 are preset to "Department Key 1." The rest can be assigned by pressing the price look-up code, the price and the department key.
For tax purposes, you can program the cash register to calculate two separate tax tables. You can also use the percent key to program a discount or premium setting.
For sales and other transactions, you can choose either a journal or receipt format for printing, and you can program consecutive receipt numbers on every transaction or report with the date and time.
Finally, you can program a secret code to limit access to transaction reports, resetting of sales information, and all other sensitive data.
All of the programming can be accomplished by using the keys on the cash register to set information for taxes, printing formats, consecutive receipts and secret codes.
